Thank you for your review! I'm happy that it is working well for you and feels good on your skin.
My face tends to dry out, especially during the summer when I'm washing my face / showering more often. Trying this Be Green Facial Cleanser out and so far no dryness and no need for a facial oil either after showering.
I appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with the Facial Cleanser. I'm so happy to hear that you are finding it gentle and non-drying. Thank you for your review!
I love that I know I’m using a product that is good for me and my skin!
This soap makes my face feel clean and soft. The fact that it is all natural and EWG approved is a major bonus. Ordered a second one so I have it in our trailer for travel. Doesn't irritate my eyes if I accidentally get it in them! So happy to have found this soap.
I'm happy that you found our EWG Verified Facial Cleanser! Thank you for your review and for appreciating the natural ingredients. It's wonderful to hear that you face feels clean and soft after using it.
I was drawn to the naturally derived and organic ingredients. I love that there are no synthetic ingredients, essential oils or fragrances. However, I am also on the look out for skin care products that have a more balanced pH. If the product is too acidic or too alkaline, either way can cause skin irritation. I'm not an expert, but I have read that for cleansers, a pH around 5.5 is ideal, and most people tolerate within the range of 4.5 to 7. I used store bought pH strips to test this cleanser and it tested very alkaline - around 8 or 9. There was no pH information available for this product, so I decided to buy it and test it myself.
I only used this cleanser about 4 or 5 times, so I cannot speak from a long experience. I did find it easy to dispense and use; I liked how easily it foamed up; it felt good to massage on my face; and the packaging was also great. I did not notice any stinging or dryness immediately after use, but again, it was only a few times. I wash my face every day and I am looking for a natural cleanser that is more balanced for healthy long-term use. Using a cleanser that is too basic (too alkaline) may cause redness, dryness and irritation over time as it damages the skin's acid mantle and microbiome. As someone with sensitive skin who is on a journey to heal, I will continue my search. If I had any feedback for the formulator of this product, it would be to explore making a version with a lower pH. I'd love to try that :)
Thank you for your detailed review of the Facial Cleanser. The cleanser does have a ph in the 8 range. Even though we use all natural and mild surfactants, they tend to be more base than acidic. We offset this by including jojoba and apricot oils for moisturizing and glycerin for its humectant properties. Even so, we have considered adding citric acid to lower the ph. You are correct that higher ph products can disrupt the acid mantle. Studies show that it takes 20 minutes to restore it to 1/3 the level before and 2-3 hours to be fully restored. This can be an issue to one with irritated skin. While we haven't had any negative feedback concerning redness, dryness or irritation from this product, even those with eczema and rosacea, we do plan to adjust the ph as soon as fully tested.
